Knowledge & experience…

… that’s D.C.

D.C.

To call DC an ‘experienced musician’ is an understatement… having spent, as he has, more than 40 years in the music industry and having worked with innumerable artists and musicians both performing live and recording, there isn’t much this man hasn’t seen or doesn’t know. If there is, it’s probably not worth knowing.

DC’s drumming journey began at aged 7 and, as many drummers do, he started learning by playing along with his favourite songs and trying to copy what he heard those drummers play. After a while though he decided to get more serious about his drumming and sought out some great teachers. Just a few of the great names he has studied with are Dom Famularo, Jim Chapin and Alex Acuna.

There are way too many International Artists that DC has performed with to list here, but just some of them include Chieli Minucci, Tiger Okoshi, Glen Shorrock and Mary Wilson of The Supremes. A selection of the local artists he has recorded and performed with include Eugene Pao, Allen Youngblood and the Saturday Night Jazz Orchestra in the Jazz/R&B genre, and William So, Rubber Band and Justin Lo in the Cantopop genre.

In terms of his teaching, DC believes as we all do at Aspire, that it’s our job to help students fall in love with their instruments and music in general and, if we can do that, students will stay motivated and eager to learn. With over 20 years of teaching experience behind him, DC knows exactly how encourage this love. He has taught at The Academy of Performing Arts, Tom Lee, German Swiss International School and Canadian International School among others, and has done numerous clinics and masterclasses in schools around HK.
